Wow, the last two days have been intense competitions for our children and our dogs. We are heavily involved in 4-H Competitions and do agility, obedience and showmanship. Our dogs love to perform in every ring, so it just makes it so easy for our children to work with our dogs.

Australian Labradoodles are very easy to train. They are quick to learn and their training sticks with them. They are so good at many things that it is hard to just pick one area. Our children love to do them all, and it is good exercise both physical and mental for our dogs as well.

Picture here is Ashford Manor’s Duchess and our son Connor. Connor and Duchess have a special bond, they both know what each other are thinking even without words!

Connor was told that Duchess should be in a higher level just because of her abilities. Connor said, she is only 1 1/2 years old, we are required to stay in this level! He even ran Duchess off leash in the agility course for practice and she did amazing!

This is Summer Rose and Taylor. Summer is 4 years old and has 5 litters, so she is still quite fast although not as fast as her daughter, Ashford Manor’s Duchess.

Summer has been competing for 2 years and consistently wins Reserve Champion … she looses to her daughter! Last year and this year both had perfect scores in Showmanship and had to do a “run-off” between each other. Each year it was the handler’s error that brought them in the Reserve Champion place!

Summer is a phenomenal dog, who loves everyone she meets. Summer will be having her last litter in October, 2012. If you are interested in one of her puppies, CLICK HERE.

Then there is Ethan with Brandy. As you can tell both of them are quite happy together, they are like two peas in a pod!

Brandy had a confirmed pregnancy at the end of May and three days before the competition she had puppies! As you can imagine we were not going to tear her away from her puppies!

This was Brandy’s first litter and with every new mom we are a little apprehensive on how they will be at nurturing their puppies. We were very relieved to see that Brandy is and was doing a phenomenal job at motherhood, it is amazing to watch these God given instincts go into play! Brandy was not much for puppies even while she was pregnant, she just didn’t want to be bothered by them … once she gave birth she became a whole new dog!

Dilemma, what shall we do???

Fortunately for everyone, an assistant at dog training, swooped in and said, “You can borrow my dog!” Wow, we were all speechless! It was so kind of her! Here is Ethan and her dog named Spencer!

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you! Spencer and Ethan won in several different categories. They won Champion in Obedience, Reserve Champion in Showmanship, Top Overall Obedience in all classes, and Top Handler Overall Divisions! Wow, they sure took the cake!

Of our three boys in the competition, they took 3 of the 5 plaques! This was a huge feat seeing that they were competing against grades 3 – 12 and all three divisions: obedience, showmanship, and agility!

Great Job Guys & Doodles!

Ashford Manor Labradoodles breeds multi-generational mini and medium Australian Labradoodles. We are Indiana’s finest breeder taking great pride in the training and socialization we give our dogs. Our dogs are well rounded for any environment. Many of our puppies have gone on to take therapy training just because they excel in all the classes!

We are members of the Australian Labradoodle Association of America where we register each and every puppy and we make sure we are always up to date on our health testing. This is also a place where breeders can communicate to one another and learn from each other.
